The Annapurna Yojana is a new scheme from the West Bengal government that provides eligible women with monthly financial assistance of ₹3,000. Applications officially opened on June 1, 2026, with the first payments expected to be transferred starting June 3, 2026.

Here is a quick guide to the application process and how to check your status.

📝 How to Apply Online

The easiest way to apply is through the official state portal. The process involves a few key steps:

  • Visit the Official Portal: Go to the dedicated West Bengal Social Security portal at socialsecurity.wb.gov.in/login.

  • Download or Fill the Form: You can download the application form (available in English, Bengali, and Hindi) or fill it out directly online. Please be aware that the application form is substantial, comprising 11 to 12 pages.

  • Submit Your Application: Once completed, you can submit the form online through the portal or submit a physical copy at your local Block Office, Municipality Office, or Panchayat Office.

For those who may need assistance, the government is conducting special camps, known as "Janakalyan Shibir," across the state from June 15 to June 17, 2026, to help with form submission.

📄 Offline Application Process

If you prefer to apply offline, you can also obtain the physical application form from your local Block Development Officer (BDO) office, Municipality, or Panchayat office. Additionally, government officials are conducting door-to-door campaigns to distribute and collect forms.

📊 How to Check Application Status

You can check the status of your application through a few different methods:

  • Online: Visit the official scheme portal and use the Application Reference Number to track your application's progress.

  • Via Aadhaar: On the portal, look for the 'Aadhaar Mapped Status' option. Enter your Aadhaar number and the captcha code. You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Enter the OTP to view your status.

  • Offline: If you applied offline, you can check your status by submitting your acknowledgement receipt at the local Block or Municipal office where you applied.

🔍 Understanding the Verification Process

The government is implementing a strict verification process to ensure only eligible applicants receive benefits.

  • Multi-Layer Verification: Applications will be verified by authorized government officials or Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials. In rural areas, Block Development Officers (BDOs) will handle verification; in urban areas, Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) will manage the process.

  • Database Cleansing: An extensive exercise is underway to remove ineligible beneficiaries, particularly those identified as absent, shifted, or deceased (ASDD) during the recent Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

  • Transition for Existing Beneficiaries: If you are a current beneficiary of the old Lakshmir Bhandar scheme, you will be automatically migrated to the Annapurna Yojana, provided your details are valid. Those who have filed appeals with the SIR Tribunal or applications under the CAA will continue to receive benefits until their applications are decided.
