BJP's victory in Rampur, decisive lead in Azamgarh, AAP's defeat in Punjab


By Election 2022 ECI Results Live: BJP is poised for victory in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats. Before the by-election, both the seats were of SP.

New Delhi: Out of three Lok Sabha seats, the results of two Lok Sabha seats have been declared. In UP, the BJP has defeated the SP in its stronghold Rampur. Here BJP candidate Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi defeated SP candidate SP candidate Asim Raza by a margin of more than 42 thousand votes. In Azamgarh too, BJP has taken a decisive lead. Here BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua is leading by more than 10 thousand votes. Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback in Punjab. Shiromani Akali Dal (A) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann has won the Sangrur Lok Sabha here. At the same time, in the by-elections to four assembly seats in Tripura, the BJP has won three and the Congress one seat. BJP won Jubarajnagar, Surma and Town Bardowali seats. At the same time, Congress has won the Agartala seat. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha won from Town Bardowali seat. He needed to win the by-election to remain the CM.


AAP registered victory in Delhi, Durgesh Pathak won
Aam Aadmi Party's Durgesh Pathak has won from Delhi's Rajinder Nagar seat. Pathak defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Rajesh Bhatia by a margin of over 11,000 votes. In Tripura, out of 4 assembly seats, BJP got 3 while Congress got one seat. Vikram Reddy of YSR Congress won from Atmakuru Assembly seat in Andhra Pradesh by a margin of over 88 thousand votes. Counting is going on for Mandar seat of Jharkhand.

The BJP has snatched the Rampur Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh from the Samajwadi Party. BJP candidate Ghanshyam Lodhi has won this seat by a margin of about 40 thousand votes. In Azamgarh seat too, BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav is leading over Dharmendra Yadav, brother of SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

On the other hand, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann has won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. 77-year-old Mann has snatched this seat from AAP. He defeated AAP candidate Gurmail Singh. Bhagwant Mann was elected from this seat in 2019. This seat was vacated by his resignation after becoming the CM.

Rampur and Azamgarh have been strongholds of SP and Azamgarh seat was left by Akhilesh Yadav, who won the state assembly elections, similarly Rampur seat was also left by Mohammad Azam Khan.
In Azamgarh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali has secured more than 1 lakh votes, which has affected Dharmendra Yadav of Samajwadi Party. Jamali is in third place.

On the other hand, Durgesh Pathak of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Rajesh Bhatia by a margin of more than 11 thousand votes in the by-election held on Delhi's Rajendra Nagar assembly seat on Sunday. The officers provided this information. Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said, "All 16 rounds of counting have been completed. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Durgesh Pathak has defeated his nearest rival Rajesh Bhatia of BJP by a margin of more than 11,000 votes.
