Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor to welcome their first child; shares in 

Actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor on 27 June announced that they were expecting their first child.

In an Instagram post, she wrote, "Our baby coming soon".

In the picture, the 'Dear Zindagi' actor can be seen in a hospital with Ranbir Kapoor, wearing a cap. She can be seen smiling and looking at the monitor, during her ultrasound, which is covered with a heart emoticon.

"Oh my my Congratulationsssss" Actor Rakul Preet Singh commented on the post.

Actor Mouni Roy, their co-star in their upcoming movie Brahmastra, said: "Immensely happy."

The 'Brahmastra' couple had tied their knot on April 14, 2022 in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai. 

Meanwhile, on the work front, the 'Highway' actor was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and will be next seen in Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva' along with Ranbir Kapoor.

Alia Bhatt on Monday shared a photo from the hospital featuring her with husband Ranbir Kapoor. The actor announced their ‘baby’ was arriving soon. Celebs like Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra and fans reacted to her latest post

Ranbir's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also reacted to the post, and left heart emojis. Alia's mother Soni Razdan wrote, “Congratulations Mama and Papa lion.” Actor Rakul Preet Singh commented, “Oh my my Congratulationsssss.” Actor Parineeti Chopra commented, “Congrats lovers!!” Actor Tiger Shroff, too, commented on Alia’s post, writing, "Congratulations.” Reality TV judge Malaika Arora wrote, “God bless.”

However, some fans also wondered if it was true or part of Brahmastra promotions. Alia and Ranbir will be seen together on the screen for the first time in the Ayan Mukerji directorial, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. The film releases in theatres on September 9.

Alia and Ranbir dated for some years, and married in April 2022 at Ranbir’s Mumbai home Vastu, in the presence of their close friends and family members. Their wedding pictures were first shared by Alia on Instagram. She shared them with the caption, “Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home … in our favourite spot - the balcony we’ve spent the last 5 years of our relationship - we got married.”

The couple's wedding pictures gained a lot of attention on social media. When asked about sharing her feelings openly on the internet, she told Filmfare in a recent interview that she isn’t trying to gain followers with her posts. “I am putting up a picture that I want to put up. I am not doing it because I feel ‘ki mere followers badh jayenge (increase)’ and all. So, if I put up a picture, whatever picture it may be, I am doing it because of what I’m feeling at that moment, and that’s it, there’s no other explanation for it,” she said.

The news comes months after Alia Bhatt, 29, and Ranbir Kapoor, 39, tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony held in Mumbai in April this year. Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to share the news as she posted a picture from an ultrasound session at a hospital with Ranbir Kapoor. 

"Our baby.... coming soon," the Gangubai Kathiawadi star captioned the photo that was posted on Monday, June 27. She also posted a picture of a lion, a lioness and a cub in another slide. Several members from the film fraternity including Karan Johar, Parineeti Chopra, Rakul Preet Singh, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Tiger Shroff, Mouni Roy and others commented on Alia’s post, congratulating the couple.

The couple is also set to share screen space for the first time in Brahmastra: Part One Shiva, scheduled to be released on September 9. At a press conference for his upcoming film Shamshera last week, Ranbir Kapoor said he couldn't have asked for a better life partner than Bhatt. "It is a very big year for me. It is a great year for me, I got married, it is a beautiful thing that has happened in my life... My life with Alia is the best," he stated.

Ranbir Kapoor had also said that Alia Bhatt has seen the teaser of Shamshera, but has yet to see the trailer as she was miles away from him in London. Last month, Alia Bhatt reportedly flew out to the UK to shoot for her Hollywood debut, Heart of Stone. Her upcoming films also include Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and Darlings, which marks her debut as a producer. She will be sharing the screen with actors Roshan Mathew, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma in Darlings. The film is bankrolled by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s home banner Red Chillies Entertainment and Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.
